My name is Amanda M. Thrasher. I am a writer/author, wife, mother, daughter and I would like to think a good friend. I grew up in England, with an incredible family and was fortunate to experience the things in life we so often take for granted, the simple things, such as travel, picnics, hiking, plays and theater. I witnessed incredible acts of sacrifice via my parents, in order to provide a better way of life for their family, while still being enveloped by unbelievable amounts of love and support. Though I am adopted, to my parent’s credit you would never know it, a fact I appreciate each and every day still. It is a reflection of how much selflessness they have, for the love of someone else’s child. It amazes me each and every day, I never take that for granted.
American high school and college was a culture shock for me, though I adapted, and writing was a huge source of comfort. Writing has always brought me joy, and fortunately my parents encouraged me to write, early on. I remember as child, wanting new pencils, each week. Specific pencils, blue ones one week, red the following week, never yellow though. It’s funny the things you remember. As a teenager, during difficult times, writing was an incredible outlet. I have written seven children’s pieces, six easy readers, Mischief in the Mushroom Patch which is my first release. I have started my second Mischief, although the entire piece is laid out already in my mind, and I am currently writing a novel as well, I’m about hundred thousand words into it.
I lost my mother too soon, she asked me to send in my work, a very intimidating thought. In order to honor her, I did and Mischief in the Mushroom Patch was picked up. My mom loved fairies and had them all over her house and yard. I wanted to write a fairy tale, a new fairy tale. I love them and want my children to love them. I hope to have accomplished this. The classics are beautiful and important, but we have seen and read them a thousand times, but we need them. We need fairy tales. Continue reading
